He was a major contributor to the music of The Ramones and has been in several bands, including The Rattlers, which included the (in)famous Lester Bangs. He currently lives in New York.andlt;bandgt;Legs McNeilandlt;/bandgt; is the coauthor of andlt;iandgt;Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punkandlt;/iandgt;, a book widely hailed as the definitive work on the subject. The founder of the seminal magazine that gave punk its name, he is a former editor at andlt;iandgt;Spinandlt;/iandgt; and editor-in-chief of andlt;iandgt;Nerveandlt;/iandgt;. McNeil also wrote Marilyn Chambers's comeback film, andlt;iandgt;Still Insatiableandlt;/iandgt;.
