Synopsis
In this new introductory ecology text, the authors (associated with Bowdoin College, U. of Colorado, and Oregon State U.) emphasize community ecology, ecosystem ecology, and applied aspects of ecology within discussion of principles. The 24 chapters are organized into six units: organisms and their environment, populations, interactions among organisms, communities, ecosystems, and applied and large-scale ecology. Supplemental materials include case studies at the introduction and close of each chapter, along with review exercises.
