Staff Pick
Widely regarded as the best writing in the Star Wars Expanded Universe (now Star Wars Legends), Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy is a must-read for any Star Wars fan looking to delve into the connected novels. It's unknown whether any major elements of the Legends books will come into play in the new films (there were a few nods in Episode VII: The Force Awakens, but nothing major), but I'm holding onto a tiny thread of hope for Thrawn to make an appearance. He's a brilliant villain, and Zahn fleshes him out with finesse. (If you enjoy the trilogy, consider reading Zahn's excellent follow-up duology, Specter of the Past and Vision of the Future.)
