Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

'When Caitlin first meets Rogerson Biscoe, he seems to be everything she wants him to be. He\'s handsome, sensitive, and more than a bit mysterious. And before long, Rogerson has cast a spell over Caitlin. A spell that keeps her in a dreamland from which she can\'t seem to break free-even when the dreams turn into nightmares. Beautifully crafted, with a vivid plot and sharply drawn characters, this is a powerful and intensely compelling story of a young girl struggling to break free of an abusive relationship.

\"Dreamland is the story of many contemporary teen relationships. Compelling reading.\" (School Library Journal, starred review)'

Review:

"In her fifth novel, Dessen again demonstrates her astonishing talent at creating memorable characters with authentic voices and psychological depth, and her remarkable ability to craft subtle but riveting stories, exploring rich themes which young adult readers are sure to find compelling." Alan Reviews

Review:

"Dreamland is the story of many contemporary teen relationships. Compelling reading." School Library Journal (starred review)

Review:

"Dessen crafts a believable portrait of a teenage girl....Despite the book's heavy symbolism and shortcuts with characterization, readers will find themselves being pulled in by Caitlin's story." Horn Book

Review:

"Dessen has created a compassionate novel that examines how wrong love can go. This book will appeal to girls addicted to romance novels or to any teen struggling with an abusive situation." VOYA

I couldn't put this book down. So much is put on Caitlin's shoulders, and she's only 16. It's amazing to see a character created, torn down to nothing, and built back up to a person we can all relate to.
