About the Author
Yunbi Xu received his PhD. in genetics and plant breeding (1993, Zhejiang Agricultural University) and B.S. in agronomy (1982, Huazhong Agricultural College). He is now a molecular maize breeder and head of Applied Biotechnology Center, International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). Before that, he worked as an assistant/associate professor and deputy director of Department of Agronomy, Zhejiang Agricultural University; postdoctoral and research associate at Cornell University; and plant molecular biologist and molecular rice breeder at RiceTec, Inc., Texas. Dr. Xu has published 30 articles in peer-reviewed international journals, 11 book chapters/proceedings, and 32 poster presentations. He delivered 21 talks at international conferences/symposia/workshops. He serves as an editor for three international journals (
Theoretical and Applied Genetics,
Molecular Breeding, and
International Journal of Plant Genomics). During past 15 years, Dr. Xu has focused his research in genetic mapping, marker development, marker-assisted selection, and development of molecular breeding platforms.
