With lively drawings and surprisingly thorough text, Gonick rides with Paul Revere and flies with Sputnik through the salient points of our nation's history. In the tradition of Gonick's The Cartoon Guide to the Universe, and other books in the series, this is an entertaining and informative way to fill in those ever-widening gaps in our historical knowledge. Can't outline the Monroe Doctrine, discuss the importance of the 14th Amendment, or explain the reasons behind the savings and loan debacle? Gonick's Cartoon History of the United States will set the record straight in a clear and ticklingly visual way.
