Synopsis
Cora Sledge's kids don't trust her, and with good reason: she's eighty-two, obese, diabetic, pops way too many pills, and has been "off" since her husband, Abel, died years ago. What they don't know is that Cora hasn't been quite right for a very long time. To get even with her family for locking her up in The Palisades, an assisted-living facility, Cora decides to write a tell-all journal revealing once and for all the tragic events that shadowed her marriage and the birth of her first child, and the difficult choices that led a young wife and mother into depression. Intermingled with Cora's reminiscences are her account of the day-to-day foibles and dramas at The Palisades, and her evolving romance with a debonair new patient.
