NOTES FROM THE RARE BOOK ROOM SPECIALIST:
Printed in 1766, this volume pairs the poetry of Thomas Gray with the delightful artwork of
Richard Bentley. Gray’s “Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard” is included in this
volume – certainly his most famous piece. Richard Bentley is today remembered for his
association with Horace Walpole and Walpole’s estate, Strawberry Hill.
Condition:
Spine darkened, light wear to binding with some loss to marbled paper. Poem in beautiful old hand tipped in before half title page. Some foxing to pages, offset from plates.
