The School for Good and Evil is absolutely one of the best YA fantasy reads since the Harry Potter train left the station. Meet two girls, Sophie and Agatha. They live in a small village from which every four years, two children disappear forever — until they reappear years later in the fairy tale books. Beautiful Sophie knows she is destined to be whisked away, meet her Prince Charming, and live her Happily Ever After as a fairy tale princess; gloomy Agatha is always being mocked by the villagers that she will be abducted and become an evil witch. But when the fateful night arrives, both girls face an incredible reversal of fortunes as they are brought to the gates of the School for Good and Evil. The world of stories is deadly serious, as the girls must contend with picky princes, fairy tale curses, and an enigmatic and riddle-speaking School Master — all while competing for top marks in classes like Animal Communication and Uglification.
Every book in this series is a delight, humorous and dramatic in equal measure. The building adventure and mystery glues you to the pages from start to finish, and no joke — with each ending, you'll either be exhilarated and giddy or chucking the book across the room and demanding the next. Whatever your reaction, though, these stories are a ride you don't want to miss! Recommended By Miranda G., Powells.com
Synopses & Reviews
The New York Times bestselling School for Good and Evil series is an epic journey into a dazzling new world, where the only way out of a fairy tale is to live through one.
Start here to follow Sophie, Agatha, and everyone at school from the beginning!
This paperback edition features an Extras section, giving readers a chance to see which school they'd be in and a Q&A with the author, Soman Chainani — as well as a beautifully redesigned cover.
With her glass slippers and devotion to good deeds, Sophie knows she'll earn top marks at the School for Good and join the ranks of past students like Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Snow White. Meanwhile, Agatha, with her shapeless black frocks and wicked black cat, seems a natural fit for the villains in the School for Evil.
The two girls soon find their fortunes reversed — Sophie's dumped in the School for Evil to take Uglification, Death Curses, and Henchmen Training, while Agatha finds herself in the School for Good, thrust among handsome princes and fair maidens for classes in Princess Etiquette and Animal Communication.
But what if the mistake is actually the first clue to discovering who Sophie and Agatha really are?

"Chainani takes the racing energy of Roald Dahl's language and combines it with the existential intensity of J.K. Rowling's plots to create his own universe. THE SCHOOL FOR GOOD AND EVIL uses the sorcery of words and the poetry of friendship to startle, enchant, and keep us turning pages."
